Berlinale 2024
The European Parliament's Lux Audience Award is an example of how cinema can bring us together, how cinema can foster the European values of freedom, equality and diversity and be a tool for representation of minorities and marginalised groups.
This was my message at the event "Cinema as a tool for democracy" organised by the Lux Awards in the framework of the Berlin Film Festival.
Along with fellow Culture Committee Members Diana Riba (ES, Greens/EFA) and Emmanuel Maurel (FR, GUE/NGL), on 17 February we visited the European Film Market, welcomed by its director Dennis Ruh, were we could exchange with producers, actors, distributors and artists from the film industry.
